I Love Cake!

I LOVE CAKE! Seriously y’all I love everything there is about cake, some things more than others of course.  I figured for my first blog I would at least talk about cake and how I started.

The ironic thing is when my brother and I were little, my mom actually taught Wilton cake decorating classes at night.   Both my mom and my grandma taught me how to bake, I might be a little biased, but I learned from the best.  I love when I find a recipe in one of their cookbook where they have written all over the pages.

So how did I get started?  I’ve never really been a big fan of buying presents for people.  It’s not because I’m cheap or anything I just don’t weird I know so, to make up for that I baked my first cake for a friend.  It wasn’t pretty, but I was ready for more.  So family and friends got a cake and each one got a little better over time (yes I was hooked).  Cake became my stress reliever.  So much so that I did my own wedding cake.  Most think I was crazy and I might have been, but it was a good way to show what I love to do with the people I love most.  I truly believe God puts people in your life for a reason.  We were so blessed to have Erin with Erin Lindsey Images be our photographer at our wedding and since I’m not good with gifts I got with her husband Will about doing a cake for her birthday and to say thank you for capturing our day so perfectly.  For her surprise birthday cake, I decided to sculpt and antique camera from my personal collection.  I really don’t think she realizes, but her and Will was that little extra push I needed to start Just Crumbs.  I am so blessed to have the support from everyone and especially my sweet husband/delivery boy/cake engineer.

I love finding new inspiration for a cake whether it’s a wedding dress, a piece of art, or the desire to try a new technique.  I truly love what I do and I couldn’t imagine life without cake.
