My name is Michelle Odom, and I’m a pretty simple girl. I am married to my best friend, who is also my hot delivery boy and my problem solver. When I am not doing cakes, I love being outside! I like to go fishing, shooting and camping. I am also slightly addicted to Pinterest and love to go antique shopping to find one-of-a-kind items.
When I was little, I just loved to help my mom and grandma bake in the kitchen. They would pull the tallest chair we had close to the counter so I could get my hands dirty in between the two of them. I would be covered head to toe in flour, but I loved every minute of it. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be doing cakes for a living, but I’m loving it!
I get the question, “How did you get started with cakes?” a lot and…it kinda just happened! My husband and I love to watch the cake “Challenge” on Food Network, and I had the crazy idea to try it out. One of my good friend’s birthday was coming up, and I honestly can’t stand buying gifts for people (yes, strange I know!), so I decided I’d make her a cake. It was by no means beautiful, but I was hooked. I would find excuses to play with different products and for a few years I practiced on friend’s and family’s birthday cakes. When it came to our wedding I knew I wanted to do the cake, but I couldn’t decide whether or not it was a good idea. Most people thought I was a little crazy (myself included), but believe it or not it kept my mind busy. It was a way for me to try something different besides the traditional tiered cake. I have some of the greatest people that have supported me and gave me the courage to start my business.
To start a business I needed a name. I wanted a name that represented the cakes and my personality, a name that was different. I came up with a blank so I referred to my awesome neighbors/ friends. Next thing I knew they came up with a list of names and one just stuck out…Just Crumbs. I fell in love with the name and it was perfect.
